It's a Boy! ~ My SIL's Baby Shower

My sister-in-law recently found out she is having a baby boy!  Hooray for more boys! :)  Over the weekend we had a baby shower for her and here are the things I made.

Snowman Donuts

I made these for my son's pre-school snack.  I used powdered donuts for the heads, mini-chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth & I chopped off the ends of mini-carrots for the noses.  I've read about other people using candy corn for the noses, but I couldn't find any in December.  Hopefully they will enjoy them! :-)

Thanksgiving Pilgrim Hat Cookies

Gobble, Gobble!  Thanksgiving is in a week!  I can't believe 2011 has gone by so quickly!  For a school treat, I made these pilgrim hat cookies I found on Pinterest.com.

I used Fudge Stripe cookies as the bottom, Reese's mini-cups for the top, orange piping gel for the brim and a dark chocolate square for the buckle.  I have to say that the piping gel didn't work very well, so I wouldn't recommend it.  An orange candy writer would work much better if you can find one.  I used a black candy writer to "glue" the cookie to Reese cup but you can also use a thin layer of piping gel.  Stick them in the fridge to harden and EAT!

Halloween Stuff

I've been spending a lot of time on Pinterest.com.  There are so many cute things on there, so I took a few of their ideas to make some Halloween stuff.  If you aren't a member, check it out!

Large favor bags for pre-school:

Smaller favor bags with glittery spiders & crazy eyes:

4 of these for the teachers:

Ghost cookies made with Nutter Butters dipped in white chocolate.  I used a candy writer for the the eyes & mouth but you can also use mini-chocolate chips.  FYI - It took FOREVER for these to dry, even in the refrigerator.

Favor bags for playgroup kiddos.

Halloween s'mores.  I found the ghost peeps at Target several weeks before Halloween.  I never saw them again.  So if you make them, get the peeps as soon as you see them!

I made 61 different bags.  I'm Halloween-ed out & it's still 2 days away!!

New Halloween Guys

I had a hard time finding the big foam pumpkin heads that I used last year.  This year's pumpkins look like they are wearing a potato sack.  Hey, it could be their costume, right? :)

I picked the witches up one day at Michael's for Caden.  Too bad there were only 3 in the bag because I think these look cute!

Boy Baby Shower Stuuuuufffff....

One of my best friends had a sweet baby boy named Grayson!  Before his arrival, we had a couples shower for them.  These are a few of the things I made.  I didn't have my Cricut at the time....it
arrived a few days later :-\

When guests signed in, we asked them to write on a diaper.  Here's what my sign said.  I have to give Brandon credit for helping me with the rhyme. :-)

More poop & pee, oh my!
2am diaper changes make
Mommy & Daddy cry!

Got a tip or something funny
for when those diapers are a little runny?
Jot it down to make them smile
now that they're going to be up awhile!

Minnie Mouse Invitations

Glitter, glitter, everywhere!!!

I had the pleasure of making these girly invitations this week.  I NEVER get to make anything that's pink or anything with GLITTER!  It was so fun and I think they turned out pretty cute!  Thanks, Heidi!  I hope you like them.

Glittery Pumpkins

I made these 5 years ago, so I don't have a better picture.  I saw Martha Stewart make them and well....mine aren't as good.  I had a hard time finding orange glitter, so that's why I made multiple colors.  Just paint some glue on mini-pumpkins from the grocery store and cover in glitter.

Mishka Mushka, Mickey Mouse!

Mason will be 2 this weekend and he loves Mickey Mouse!  Here's what I've made so far for his party.  Unfortunately, the party place doesn't allow you to hang decorations, so I won't be making much.

Invitations

Birthday parties are so much fun!  Especially when it's your 2nd one!!

Once I got the wording centered, I made these pretty quickly.  I used the Disney Cricut cartridge for the 6" Mickey Mouse head on card stock paper.  The white insert slips out and has the party information in a free Mickey font I found online.

More Favors

I've yet to the make the big batch for the party. These are the practice ones.

To make these cookies, you will need:
*Double Stuf Oreos
*Mini Oreos
*Black candy writer
*Red candy writer
*Wilton red candy melts
*White confetti/sprinkles
*Wax paper
*Cookie sheet

-Use the black candy writer to "glue" the mini Oreos to the big Oreo
-Place on wax paper and freeze until the candy hardens
-Once dry, use the red candy writer to draw a line across the cookies as the top of the pants
-Melt candy chips as directed and dip cookie to the red line
-Place your "buttons"
-Place completed cookie on wax paper in the freezer until the pants harden

For the candy writers, I used the BUFF brand from Michael's.  I think the hardest part was finding ears that "fit" correctly.  I had to eat quite a few that weren't *just* right. ;)

Fingerprint Reindeers

Did you know Christmas is only 110 days away?  Wow, time is flying!!

These cute gift tags are easy to make & add a personal touch to your gift.  I don't recall who gave me this idea.  So if you are reading this and you're saying, "HEY!  You stole my idea!!" - please tell me so I can give you credit. :)

What you need:
*Card stock paper
*Brown paint
*Red paint
*Small paint brush
*Paper plate
*Black Sharpie
*Your kids

-Cut your card stock to the preferred size
-Pour brown and red paint on paper plate
-Lightly paint your child's thumb with brown paint and press on tag
-Use a dab of red paint on the tip of your child's pinkie finger and dab on the nose
-Let dry
-Once dry, use Black Sharpie to draw antlers and eyes

If the brown paint is too thick, the reindeer head won't dry very well and it will look like a blob of poop. :)  If you are using special paper, practice on plain paper first.  I used Caden's thumbs and Mason's pinkie last year since he was too small to sit still for more than 2 seconds.

For the paper pictured, I used silver card stock and a corner rounder to round it out.

Ta-da!  Merry Christmas!

Halloween Pumpkins Guys

These little guys are so easy to make.  My Aunt Donna gave me this idea & it was a huge hit at my son's preschool Halloween party!

What you need:
*Snack size bags of M&M's, Skittles, or whatever candy you prefer
*Sixlets candy
*Popsicle sticks
*Pumpkin foam kit or Styrofoam pumpkins
*Hot glue gun
*Fall leaves or garland
*Hole punch or scissors

- Hot glue your popsicle stick to the back of candy bag, leaving a portion of the stick exposed for the head.
- Hot glue tubes of Sixlets candy for the arms & legs.
- Make a hole in your leaf with hole punch or pair of scissors.
- Place over exposed part of the popsicle stick as the "shirt."
- Decorate your pumpkin face & glue to exposed part of stick.

I found my pumpkin heads at Hobby Lobby.  You can decorate the faces as you wish & it's fun for kids!  If you can't find the foam kit, you can use wooden pumpkins or mini-styrofoam pumpkins & decorate the face with a marker.

The best place I have found for the tubes of Sixlets is the Dollar Store.  They are the perfect color for fall!  I prefer to use M&M's as the body since the bag is brown.  Again, another fall color.

That's it!  So easy & super cute!
